Freshwater Lake, Dunkeld has toilets Pets allowed in Freshwater Lake, Dunkeld

A large reserve mostly occupied by the reedy, shallow lake (often dry).

Also known as Walker Swamp.

The picnic area is small, level, grassed and well shaded by mature Manna Gum and wattles, with plantings of shrubs; a little overgrown and appears rarely used.

The toilets are 150m north beside Victoria Valley Rd.

Waterbirds, rosellas, cockatoos and honeyeaters and frogs are common.

Bush camping possible on sand hills on the northern edge of the lake shaded by pine and scrub, accessed via a faint track directly on from the picnic area entrance.

Convenient to the Glenelg Hwy for an overnight stop
