A reasonably pleasant, well grassed clearing with scattered exotics (an old house site) shaded by cypress pines.

Surrounded by a mature pine forest on the lower slopes of Mt Lonarch. Relatively dry location.

There is limited level parking. Facilities are (2001) showing signs of age and limited maintenance.

This site is accessable by caravans in good weather.

Getting there

from Ballarat: West 44k on the Western Fwy & Hwy [M8 & A8] to Beaufort, right (north) 14.5k on the Beaufort-Amphitheatre Rd (bypass Raglan, 2k through Chute), left (north-west) 3.3k up the Fortes Rd (gravel), camp on left 1k after entering the Forest, at the F3 Rd junction
