Large open and mainly flat campground, alongside the MacQuarie River. Currently 24 hour maximum stay

I have heard that the council had been encouraged to close this campground, although it is still showing up on their reserve guide map as being open to camping, apparently they have restricted it to an overnight (rather than 2-3 days). It might be worth checking with council or having a backup plan in case it is closed.

The campground is right on MacQuarie River and would make a great place for basing for kayak or fishing trips. There are basic facilities (toilets, rubbish bins and picnic tables) and a bit of shade is provided for some sites by large gum trees. There is plenty of room for a caravan (if you are unfortunate enough to have to tow one).

Terramungamine Rock Carvings

There are many sites along the river where you can see grooves ground into the rock. These are places where the local aboriginal tribe (Wiradjuri) sharpened their tools and spears.
