Bells Bay Camp Ground is a very small secluded bush camping ground in magnificent forest, right on the shores of Toonumbar Dam.

This popular spot is for people who enjoy outdoor camping life with basic amenities (compost toilets), but has access to all the features at Toonumbar Dam with a concrete boat ramp. Campsites are not numbered and some are uneven, however there are covered picnic tables with small rainwater tanks at most tables (non-potable water).

Bells Bay Camp Ground is filled with wildlife and unfortunately no dogs are aloud. Recreational activities include camping, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, bush walking (tracks from the campground are not signposted, but worth finding), swimming, boating and nature watching. Garbage bins are provided for your convienence, however you will need to bring your own firewood.

Opening hours are from 3PM Thursdays to 4PM Sundays, and all NSW and QLD School holidays and public holidays.

Kyogle Fishing Club is a not-for-profit organisation that has been successfully managed by volunteers for over 30 years. On the 21st Sept 2017, the Kyogle Fishing Club took over the Bells Bay Camp Grounds management ensuring that the camp ground remained open to the community, campers and fishermen. All profits raised through camp fees are reinvested back into the camp ground for the continual enjoyment of fellow campers.

Access

This campsite is accessable with regular 2wd vehicles.

Getting there

33 kilometres from Kyogle to the Dam through beautiful farming country. On the northern edge of town, the road to Nimbin turns east, and the road to the dam goes west (turn into Anzac Drive at BP Garage off Summerland Way). There is 22 kilometres of sealed road, then 7 km of dirt, impassable after heavy rain. The unsealed road into Bells Bay, 2.5 kilometres past the dam wall, is narrow and steep inplaces, so drive slowly to the conditions. Steep section of road may not be suitable for large vans in wet conditions.
