Free camping on the edge of Bethungra Dam.

This is a large open and grassy campground with basic facilities. There is not a lot of shade, and the ground is mostly gently sloping, so if you are in a camper trailer or van, you will need to use your leveling blocks.

There are covered picnic tables, barbecues and rubbish bins as well as long drop toilets. You should bring your own firewood and drinking water.

The campground gets busy during holidays/weekends during warmer weather, however most of the time it is a quiet camping spot.

Note:Whilst swimming is permitted, there are OFFICIAL warning notices to SWIM AT YOUR OWN RISK due to presence of blue green algae.

The dam was build for water storage for the town of Junee, however use was discontinued in 1906 due to water quality problems. It is now listed as one of the important wetlands of Australia and attracts a lot of bird life.

Fishing is good in season for Redfin and Yellow Belly, especially if you have a kayak or tinny to get to the right spots.
