One of the largest and busiest campgrounds in Crowdy Bay National Park (with good reason).

There are excellent facilities, including gas barbecues, picnic shelters / tables, outdoor showers and well maintained amenities.

The camping area is very large, level and there is plenty of grass. It is suitable for caravans through to tents. Most of the sites are shaded although there are plenty of spots with sun if you need to charge solar panels.

There is a 4WD access point to the beach from the campground. You need a permit to drive on the beach from Port Macquarie-hastings Council

Bushwalking

There is an excellent (and not too difficult) 5km return walk from Diamond Head Campground through to Indian Head. There are excellent views of the ocean and headlands at Kylie lookout and other spots along the way.

Getting there

Note: The road in to this campground is dirt. When I was here in June 2013, it was in good condition, but recent reports (October 2014) it is very rough and corrugated.

The campground is about 50km south of Port Macquarie. From the Pacific Highway, take Ocean Drive from Kew and pretty much follow this for another 17km.
