Free lakeside camping with drive-up parking and incredible sunsets.

The gazetted campground here is the 'Burke and Wills' site, which is quite large and has the standard facilities (toilet, water, tables), however the ground is in very poor condition-- everyone instead prefers to camp right up on the lake shoreline, where there is grass, shade, and a large body of water to throw a fishing line into. Most visitors tend to arrange themselves around the 'Burke and Wills', however on the unsurfaced road that follows clockwise around the lake, there are several more secluded campsites.

During the not-too-dry years, the water in Lake Pamamaroo stretches over 8 kilometres across, almost making it look like the sun sets on the water, and being in the outback, the colour Red is always very prominent in the sky at these times...

Unfortunately the lake is full of Carp, which must not be returned to the water if caught. A visiting Grey Nomad told this reviewer that his meat-mincer gets a good workout here, since he has a few good recipes for fish patties that work well with carp.
