Magnetic Termite Mounds

These huge termite mounds are a site to behold, and a marvel of engineering. They are so called, because of their orientation, which is the perfect solar passive design. Due to heavy monsoonal rains, the termites can't retreat below ground to keep cool, so they have two sides to the nest, a morning and afternoon side.

Other wildlife to look out for in Litchfield National Park include Sugar Gliders, Northern Brushtail Possums, Antilopine Wallaroos, Agile Wallabys, Fawn Antechinun, Dingos and Flying Foxes.

Wangi Falls

Wangi Falls is a spectacular site, but is at its most impressive in the wet season when in full flow. The swimming hole at the bottom is a beautiful place to cool off, but unfortunately it is closed during the wet season due to the risk of crocodiles and dangerous water flows.
